Tacos de Carne Asada (Grilled Steak Tacos)
Description
Tacos de Carne Asada are a Mexican street food staple made with grilled marinated beef, typically skirt or flank steak, thinly sliced and served in soft corn tortillas. These tacos are bold, smoky, and bursting with flavor — especially when topped with onion, cilantro, salsa, and a squeeze of lime.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Make the Marinade
In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Place steak in a resealable bag or dish and pour marinade over it.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best flavor).
-
Grill the Steak
Preheat grill to high heat.
Remove steak from marinade and grill for 3–5 minutes per side, or until nicely charred and cooked to your desired doneness.
Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
-
Warm the Tortillas
While steak rests, warm tortillas in a dry skillet or directly over the flame for 30 seconds on each side until soft and slightly charred.
-
Slice the Steak
Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain into small bite-sized strips for easy taco filling.
-
Assemble the Tacos
Fill each warm tortilla with steak slices.
Top with diced onion, fresh cilantro, and a drizzle of salsa or hot sauce.
Serve with lime wedges on the side.
