Beef Bulgogi is one of Korea’s most iconic dishes. This recipe features tender slices of beef marinated in a blend of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and a touch of sugar. Once grilled or stir-fried, the meat is juicy, flavorful, and slightly caramelized. Serve it with steamed rice, kimchi, or wrapped in lettuce for a delicious Korean-style meal.
In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, grated pear (if using), sesame seeds, and pepper. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved and everything is well combined.
Place the thinly sliced beef and sliced onions in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the beef, ensuring all slices are coated. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 1 hour.
Heat a grill pan or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and swirl to coat. Cook the marinated beef in batches to avoid overcrowding. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until the beef is browned and slightly caramelized on the edges. Do not overcook.
Serve the beef bulgogi over hot steamed rice, or wrap in lettuce leaves with kimchi. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy hot and fresh for the best flavor.
