Description

Spaghetti ai Frutti di Mare is a coastal Italian favorite, featuring al dente pasta tossed with shrimp, squid, mussels, and clams in a flavorful tomato and white wine sauce. It's light, briny, and full of bold Mediterranean flavors — perfect for special dinners or a taste of summer by the sea.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cook the Spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti until al dente.
Reserve ½ cup of pasta water before draining. Set aside while the seafood cooks.

  1. Sauté the Garlic and Start the Sauce

In a deep skillet or sauté pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Add garlic and red pepper flakes and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Stir in the cherry tomatoes and season with salt. Let them cook down for 4–5 minutes.

  1. Add the Shellfish and Simmer

Pour in the white wine and add the mussels and clams.
Cover the pan and cook for 5–7 minutes until the shells open.
Discard any that remain closed. Stir occasionally to help them cook evenly.

  1. Add Shrimp and Squid

Uncover the pan and add shrimp and squid rings.
Cook for another 4–5 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and squid is opaque and tender.
Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed.

  1. Toss Pasta and Serve

Add the cooked spaghetti directly into the pan with the seafood sauce.
Toss well to coat, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
Finish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
