Description

Baked Ziti is a classic Italian-American pasta dish that’s easy to make and perfect for family dinners or meal prep. This hearty casserole is layered with tender pasta, tomato sauce, creamy ricotta, and melty mozzarella cheese. It’s baked until golden and bubbly for a crowd-pleasing favorite.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Boil the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ziti and cook until just al dente, about 1–2 minutes less than package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  1. Make the Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the garlic for 30 seconds.
Pour in the marinara sauce, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.

  1. Mix the Ricotta Filling

In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with the egg, half the mozzarella, and half the Parmesan. Season with salt and pepper.

  1. Assemble the Ziti

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13" baking dish, layer half the pasta, half the sauce, and dollops of the ricotta mix.
Repeat layers, then top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.

  1. Bake and Serve

Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
